“Sensitivity to electromagnetic radiation is the emerging health problem of the 21st century. It is imperative health practitioners, governments, schools and parents learn more about it. The human health stakes are significant.” – William Rea, MD Founder & Director of the Environmental Health Center, Dallas
Those experiencing EHS to an extremely high degree are often driven from their homes & work to then find relief in one of the country's few "quiet zones", electromagnetically speaking. Green Bank, WV is such a place because it hosts the US' largest steerable radio telescope. No TV, radio or cell towers are allowed nor can anyone use WiFi or cordless phones in their homes.
Some claim that reactions to and reported effects of electromagnetic pollution are psychosomatic. Some blind studies show otherwise though an earlier meta study of 31 patients showed a poor correlation between EHS individuals being better able to distinguish the presence or absence of fields. But there is an association between EHS and tinnitus. Symptoms may also include Ringing Ears, Insomnia, Headaches, Heart Issues, Increased Irritability and/or Impaired Ability to Concentrate. These can be caused by cellphones, Wi-Fi and other wireless devices but such uses are voluntary and intermittent. Broadcast radiation is of higher power and non-stop by definition but is of much lower frequency and longer wavelength than microwave energy. Broadcast frequencies do not cause bodies to resonate or react as readily as higher frequencies do.
Experts say, "...There is increasing evidence that the ‘microwave syndrome’ or ‘electro-hypersensitivity’ (EHS) is a real disease that is caused by exposure to EMFs [electromagnetic fields], especially those in the microwave range. The reported incidence of the syndrome is increasing along with increasing exposure to EMFs from electricity, WiFi, mobile phones and towers, smart meters and many other wireless devices...” And, "Ill health related to electromagnetic sensitivity is on the increase for society as a whole, on a global scale, and include allergies, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, neurological disorders (such as autism), auto immune system diseases, cancers, and Alzheimer's Disease."
Electrosensitivity Defined Scientifically
Over 700 people were studied in 2015 and found to have genetic markers for predisposition toward EHS or MCS. "Our data strongly suggest that EHS and MCS can be objectively characterized and routinely diagnosed by commercially available simple tests. Both disorders appear to involve inflammation-related hyperhistaminemia, oxidative stress, autoimmune response, capsulothalamic hypoperfusion and BBB [blood-brain barrier] opening, and a deficit in melatonin metabolic availability; suggesting a risk of chronic neurodegenerative disease..."
NO SAFE PLACE: shattered lives, healthcare set to crash − you can’t fix this fast enough A letter to Mayor Gregor Robertson by Olga Sheean, June 15, 2016
125 slide Power Point by Steven Weller, B.Sc. Monash, chronicles and summarizes the body of research on EMR (electromagnetic radiation) and its effects on people from the early 1960s up to the present time in layman's terms. He delivered this presentation to ARPANSA scientists, industry and government health department representatives at a EMERG committee meeting (May 20th) in which he is a public representative.
The Electromagnetic Energy Reference Group (EMERG) was established by ARPANSA to enable input from the Australian scientific community and other stakeholders on issues relating to EMR and health. He was not able to go through every slide due to time restrictions but the full presentation was shared afterwards. (4 MB PDF)
Nicole Bijlsma enumerates the many effects of proximity to higher-end-UHF, Wi-Fi & WiMAX radio-frequency transmissions. As many as 10% are affected, she says, and advocates for sufferers to be treated in accordance with UN's 2007 "Rights of the Disabled". Sweden, Spain & Canada recognize electromagnetic sensitivity as a disability. See her other videos on Wi Fi Dangers in Schools and
